Skin needling is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment used for a number of common skin ailments, such as pigmentation issues, fine lines, cellulite, acne scars, sagging skin, and stretch marks.
Stretch marks are one of the main reasons people get skin needling.
Stretch marks are a scar that develops in the deeper layers of the dermis and when there is stress, stretching and strain in the area the collagen in the skin breaks down causing marks on the surface known as stretch marks.
Skin Needling penetrates the underlying layers of the skin where these stretch marks develop and triggers the body’s natural wound healing response within the skin, producing and distributing new collagen in the treatment area. Each Skin Needling treatment encourages this production and distribution of new collagen that will progressively fill in the stretch mark making it less noticeable and in some cases disappear altogether.
During a treatment session, a handheld device containing fine needles, usually stainless-steel or ceramic needles, is gently pressed or rolled against the problem areas of the skin to create small areas of trauma that activate the body’s internal healing mechanism. This mechanism works by encouraging a natural production of new collagen and elastin, which will, in turn, lead to improved skin elasticity and smoother, plumper looking skin.
For most effective results, a course of treatments will be required.
